Let's strengthen Maine's economy
Maine’s economy is stagnant. In fact, it’s the slowest-growing economy in the nation. That means we’re losing good-paying jobs, and our workforce is shrinking.
The shrinking economy is a big problem for Maine. We’ve lost more than 20,000 goods-producing jobs in recent decades that provided strong wages to support families and our communities.
Now, more workers are retiring than there are new workers to replace them. That’s a recipe for disaster.
At present, Maine’s economy ranks 44th overall. It goes without saying, but that’s not good for anybody. Maine needs to see a dynamic shift in order to improve its economy.
The Alliance for Maine is working to create that shift. We’re a nonpartisan organization that’s committed to making Maine a great place to live and work. We’re working to attract new businesses to the state and to help existing businesses grow.
So, what can we do to turn things around?
A strong economy is essential to the future of Maine. We need to create good-paying jobs, attract new businesses, and invest in our workforce. That’s the only way we’re going to turn things around and get Maine back on track.
Fixing Maine’s economy is not going to be easy. But it can be done. We need to invest in our people and our future. If we do that, we can create better-paying jobs and make sure our workers of tomorrow know that Maine is a great place to make a living and thrive.
However, we need to work together to make Maine attractive to businesses and entrepreneurs. We also have to offer good jobs and affordable living costs. We can do this, but it will take a concerted effort on the part of everyone in Maine.
The Alliance for Maine is working to support good-paying jobs that will ultimately grow our economy. We’re also fighting for higher wages so Maine workers can afford to live and raise families here.
